Orquestra Sinfónica de Aguascalientes
Sibelius: Symphony No. 2 – finale
Guest Conductor, Kim Diehnelt
"Maestra Diehnelt's interpretation of Sibelius' Symphony No. 2 was sober, but very intense. Even though the piece is high-soaring and demanding, both physically and technically, the orchestra responded to the baton with resolve. Most amazingly however, is that for a piece that is not easy for listeners - the public too, responded to the maestra's baton and understood exactly; the ovation was prolonged." -- Aguascalientes EL Herald (Mexico)
Performed by the Symphony of Oak Park and River Forest
Narrated by Gigi Buffington
Kim’s Beethoven commentary is featured on NAXOS CD ODES TO JOY. This new CD, produced by WFMT and Naxos, includes nine Beethoven selections excerpted from the Symphonies 3, 5, 7 and 9 plus piano and chamber music. Also includes WFMT-exclusive commentaries from Bernard Haitink, Kurt Masur, David Zinman, and Pinchas Zukerman.
